NotebookLM is Google’s AI study and research tool. In this half-day workshop you’ll learn how to use it the right way for school: to research faster, organise information, and turn messy content into study materials that make sense.

This is not about cheating. If you use AI to shortcut the work, it usually backfires: you don’t understand it, you can’t explain it, and it’s easier to get caught out.

This workshop shows you how to use AI to improve understanding:

  • Work from real sources (your class materials and credible references)
  • Check what the AI says against evidence
  • Produce work you can defend and talk through confidently

1. Research for assignments without getting lost
Turn a pile of links, PDFs and notes into something usable: key points, arguments, and supporting evidence — organised so writing the assignment is much easier.

2. Turn content into study materials in minutes
Convert your topic into practical revision formats like:

  • structured study notes
  • comparison tables
  • flashcards and quick quizzes
  • visual summaries (slides/ infographics)
  • short audio/ video explainers for revision

3. Understand harder topics faster
The real power is synthesis: you can rework the same content in different formats until it clicks — helping you connect ideas and remember them.

4. Use a repeatable system for any subject
You’ll leave with a simple workflow you can reuse all year: collect sources, ask better questions, check accuracy, generate study resources, revise.

Before you come (quick prerequisites)

Access to NotebookLM
You’ll need access to NotebookLM (Google’s AI tool). There’s a free version that covers almost everything in this workshop, and all demonstrations will be done on the free tier. Paid tiers exist, but you won’t need them for the session. Set up your free NotebookLM account here. 

Laptop optional
You’re welcome to bring a laptop to try things as we go. This isn’t a computer-lab style session with one-on-one help navigating the interface — it’s a front-led workshop, with everyone following the same walkthrough on the main screen.

Bookings of 2 or more courses, or 2 or more people qualify for a combined discount (the current discount offer is displayed on the course pages). Multi-course and multi-person discounts cannot be combined with another offer, and do not apply to self-paced courses.
If you have already completed a net101 course you are entitled to a 20% discount on any other single course. Please contact us for a redemption code before making your booking.
If you are representing a registered charity, a student, in-between jobs or doing something beautiful for humanity, we can offer you a 20% discount on a single booking and 50% if you want to book 2 or more courses. Please contact us to confirm your eligibility.
Full payment can be made using Visa, MasterCard or AMEX, or pay by invoice - emailed to you at the completion of your order. An invoice must be paid in full before attending a course, unless by prior arrangement.
Let us know what details you'd like included on your invoice after completing your booking and we'll email you an amended copy.
We want you to find the right course. If you're not happy with how things are going you're entitled to a full refund, no questions asked. A few sensible conditions apply.
A full refund is available if you give us at least 28 days emailed notice before the start date of the course. Refunds will not be processed beyond this cut-off.
Date transfers are available for medical reasons only - yourself or a dependent - if you give us at least 24 hours notice before the start time of the course. Only one transfer is allowed, and it must be used within 3 months of the original course date and for the same course. A refund option is not offered on an already transferred course.
